Concrete tiles are significantly heavier than long run roofing iron so concrete tile roofs can put a lot of weight and pressure and structural demand on your home.  Replacing a concrete tile roof with lightweight long run roofing iron can take 10-12 tonnes of concrete bulk from your roof. This weight can damage your home  or cause your roof to fail.

A concrete tile conversion will always require scaffolding platforms for safety requirements. Skip bins are organized for disposal of the concrete and the tiles are removed one by one from the roof. Once the tiles have been removed we install new timber purlins throughout the existing roofing frame to create the fixing requirements for the new long-run roofing. The installation of purlins can also be completed with packing to help eliminate some of the undulation of the roofing frame that occurs from the weight of the concrete that had been sitting on the roof for a long period of time. Concrete tiles roofs can be completed in stages with temporary flashings between areas completed and yet to be. 

The labour for a concrete tile converstion re-roof project is the highest as the heavy tiles take much longer to remove than other roofing types. Depending on the size of your roof, we would estimate 3-6 weeks to complete a re-roof with long run roofing iron but it is well worth it to protect your home with a pristine new long run metal roof.
